The Care Communities, formerly known as Interfaith Care Alliance, was formed in 1991 by dedicated people of faith who wanted to provide practical and compassionate support to those living with AIDS in the Austin area. As the organization grew, its focus expanded to include another serious illness, such as cancer. The Care Communities, today, primarily provides Care Team services to those who are suffering from cancer and AIDS.

The philosophy of The Wright House Wellness Center is to help people living with chronic illnesses make healthier life-style choices and employ integrated wellness therapies to delay the illness. The Wright House Wellness Center provides no-cost to low-cost physical and emotional support and services for persons living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and hepatitis C; peer education and support, and community education.
